Lance Carpenter helps people when they need it most. He started his career as a FEMA disaster aid worker where he helped Hurricane Katrina victims. As a college football player (Arkansas Tech University), he used music to take his mind off things. Eventually, he landed a publishing deal and "Love Me Like You Mean It" was recorded by then-unknown artist Kelsea Ballerini.

His big break came when he recorded a duet with Krystal Keith. Her dad, Toby, heard it and said, “This song needs to be on the radio, and we’re going to put it there. And also, who is this guy?”
