Derek Krein joined the Tabor Academy community in July 2013, and currently serves as the Dean of Professional and Programmatic Growth and Development. In this role, he advances “What’s next?” for the student experience by leveraging the alignment of strategic initiatives with the cultivation of faculty growth and the evolution of the programs they lead. These endeavors create the most relevant and enduring learning opportunities for students and faculty across all areas of school life. Fueled by his love of schools, Derek has spent his career serving independent schools in many capacities: teacher, advisor, coach, admissions, residential life director, college counseling director, high school division head, K-12 trustee, and recently added “Tabor Parent” to that list.
Mr. Krein received his M.A. from Dartmouth College and his B.A. from Connecticut College where he double majored in history and psychology, and rowed on the varsity crew for four years. He is a graduate of Kent School in Connecticut. The Kreins live in Baxter House.
